To host your own, have a PC and install Linux or Windows with IIS on it. Find out if your ISP blocks port 80 (HTTP incoming). If so, through a different port (8080) on port 80 to IP router of the new PC. Buy a URL via GoDaddy, the site redirected to the router's IP address and port you chose another 80. Building a simple web page, have a friend test.

Well if you want to cut then host to host your domain, you need a server. . . all websites hosted on servers that are always and to store and send data thats put.

Another thing to consider is that the upload speed is usually much slower than download speeds, speeds are around 128-384 kbps. This means that if you host a popular site on the amount of time it takes the audience to view each page will be terribly long to the point of being a victim of its own success.
